Bachelor of Engineering, Honours, Final year

I am a student completing my Bachelors of Engineering (Honours) in Mechatronics at WSU. My final year research consisted of an investigation into additive manufacturing as a means of utilising recyclable plastic waste. The research conducted included numerical analysis and experimentation of Polycarbonate through testing its mechanical properties.

3D printing of recycled polymer composites using plastic wastes.

Finite element analysis and tensile testing of Polycarbonate using Additive manufacturing methods.

The research conducted utilises the additive manufacturing method of Fused Granular Fabrication to incorporate plastic wastes into 3D printed products. This manufacturing method encourages sustainable printing whilst also maintaining the properties of the material. The polycarbonate was modelled in dog-bone structures with varying print orientations for each of the layers and the physical models tested to determine tensile strength.
