It was always my father's dream to study engineering as he was always curious as to how the world works and how it would be possible to create and develop new innovative solutions for the humans of our generation. Although his poor financial circumstances in the country of Sri Lanka at the time led him to prioritize the duties of earning money at the young age of 8 he was not able to attain his dream. My hero influenced me to use my mind in a creative and intuitive manner which led me to love the field of engineering.
This report aims to provide contributions towards the development of the design procedure of new housing components, with respect to effective material assignment and fluent design of the model/geometry. The conducted segments of this project include the hand calculation of varying load conditions, which are to be used in the ANSYS analysis. The Finite Element Analysis was made in an initial step of this project and has resulted in not only favorable results but as well results that are in alignment with the mentioned aims and objectives of this project. In the fulfillment of this project, the aim is to accurately simulate a computer simulation of the loading conditions, which affect the life of the component. As the results from two Finite Element Analyses indicate that there are two factors, which create varying results and were ultimately due to the previously discussed reasons. A modal analysis and a fatigue life analysis were conducted through the use of the ANSYS software. The analyses were conducted on two varying geometries and three varying material assignments. This helped in providing great insight into what factors drive the optimal design for the component of the study. Fundamentally this report would aid a large sum of individuals and the research and work conducted for this project has been in dedication to contributing to society in the development of this component.
