1 Eddy Avenue, Haymarket

My project location at 1 Eddy Avenue, Haymarket is one of the busiest places due to the close proximity of Sydney's crowded station, Central. Through my own experience and reviews found about Central station the attention was focused on the large population of homeless people within this area and its surrounding streets. Due to this growing issue within the community I had decided to develop a homeless shelter to help those living on the streets by providing comfort, privacy and warmth for each individual. This is evident through the images provided as they showcase the separate sleeping and bathing areas for men and women to have their own privacy. Each individual will also have their own bedrooms with the necessities provided, allowing them to make this space their own. Communal areas such as kitchen and dining as well as indoor/outdoor activity zones allow each person to interact while creating different relationships in the process. By having these communal areas within the shelter ensure, each person can gradually adjust to the new lifestyle where they can rediscover their sense of self. This project demonstrates the considerations made when deciding on a particular structure as I wanted to do something which can have an impact on the people within the community.
