Embassy of Australia in Mexico

This project is located in Mexico City, Mexico. The design proposal for the embassy was made from the location of the land in front of the great Chapultepec Park and its figure that gave rise to the triangular shape of the building. The form was divided into two ends where one end is raised to have a view over the Chapultepec Forest and the other end of the building sinks below the open ground to give a more sustainable support to the building, always surrounding a central space, from start to finish. The enclosure works as a 4-story building that is distributed along the semi-spiral structure to create migration, consular and diplomatic spaces as well as event areas, an art gallery and a theatre. According to the continuous form of the building a roof garden is created which can be accessed from the ground ¬floor. Adjacent to that was also included a diplomatic residence. The building is made up of a steel structure that works as large trusses that are also connected by trusses and secondary beams. The steel cantilever is supported by several diagonal columns positioned in the central part of the building to free up the space below. This project was designed to represent the culture and way of life of Australians with open spaces and a design that goes beyond the conventional. Provided you respect and acknowledge that you recognise the First Nations Peoples of Australia as the traditional owners and custodians of the land and respect the Elders, past and present, and through them all Aboriginal and Islander peoples of the Torres Strait.
