I am going to graduate with my Bachelor of Engineering degree at the end of 2021. My favourite working areas are new technologies, robotic & automation controlling designs, artificial intelligence, and their application in real projects. I had experience with CAD designs and Computer Vision applications from my last engineering intern jobs.

Computer Vision's Application on a Flying Robot

This project will apply the Computer Vision technique to a flying robot by that the flying robot can automatically control to follow, track, and recognize a known human face. This project will use a drone as a flying robot.

In this project, work is carried out to use a camera mounted on a drone to perform human detection and face recognition. By the support of Computer Vision will allow the drone to do self-flying control and auto-capture images with aerial maneuverability.

The project will solve some aspects of 3 challenging engineer design problems: Computer Vision’s application gap, Automatic Robot design gap, and Drone controlling limitations.

The project will use a computer as the middle unit for system processing. Because of the support of a CPU (computer process unit) and a GPU (graphic process unit), Computer Vision and Drone controlling processes can be executed faster and higher accuracy. The Neural Network (Machine Learning) is the key for this Computer Vision’s application as it allows a computer to learn the different human face patterns, features, and different human face ID. The project system is broken into 3 sub-systems: controlling the drone system, the face detection system, and the face classification system.

This project result can be used in many applications including commercial drones, security, military areas, etc. it will improve human life example applications on searching and rescuing missing people in a hazardous area. In addition, this thesis idea is not limited to a flying robot which can be extended to different types of robots and machines.
