Respiraid: An Asthma Inhaler

Respiraid is a reusable smart asthma inhaler that embodies the incorporation of widespread technologies to provide a seamless experience to asthma management and control. It’s unique form and function manufactured from non-static ABS material not only encourages ease of use and comfort, but also provides an updated solution to managing condition day-to-day and promoting simultaneous inhalation and actuation. Research indicates that poor hand-breath asynchrony drastically reduces the mass of medication inhaled with studies finding reduction of up to 90% if released just one second prior to inhalation.

As a result, Respiraid takes inspiration from this to integrate an elongated distance between actuator nozzle and mouthpiece to provide extra room for medication to flow before reaching the mouthpiece and into the patients oral cavity. Respiraid also incorporates additional features such as a two finger push down button to evenly distribute force, and technology integration that connects and syncs inhaler usage to a mobile application. As daily life gets busy, patients and users of the Respiraid Inhaler find comfort knowing they have access to quality data and statistics on inhaler usage with a device that not only allows for added relief, but also heightens overall quality of life living with their condition and the way they understand and manage it.
